Picking Up the Donation

So what's involved in picking up and delivering food donations? Take a quick look at these Six Guidelines before you head to the restaurant, or click here to view more details:

  1. Check temperature at pickup (ideally it will be frozen, but if not, it should be at or below 40° F, or 4° C). Click here to view tips on operating a thermometer.
  2. Check packaging at pickup (it should be properly bagged, labeled, dated & stored).
  3. Keep food cold during transport.
  4. Practice good hygiene.
  5. Avoid cross-contamination.
  6. Upon delivery, inform the agency of food status and any problems.
